Went to see Avatar .. great 3D effects .. anyone seen it ? Cameron's interview in FT was great especially on how he got started and how long he's waited to bring this particular project to fruition.

Incidentally, the relevance of the Title in context TO the movie is in the very last scene just before the acknowledgements roll out ... for those that have seen the movie it should be clear ! For those that have not ... my post gives nothing away !

I enjoyed it as did Cost Centre 1 .. (cost centre meaning = below link !)

I have cost centres 3,4 and 5 plus 2 subgroups at home at the moment. They have all seen Avatar and very impressed. They are currently preparing a tapas themed event for a nearly 30th birthday. hence I am hiding in the computer den untill hunger forces me out.

I went to watch Avatar in IMAX Birmingham and watched it at AMC… IMAX was much much better. 3D was a lot clearer and the colours a lot brighter…and the ticket… was a lot more too.

I watched AVATAR this w/e at IMAX. The graphics were mouth wateringly beautiful. The plot, a little basic/simplistic as widely reported, but all in all, a masterpiece in visual cinema. Agree, IMAX was excellent. Better than 'standard' 3D in other cinemas, for one, the glasses were a sturdier fit, larger in len size, and cleaner/clearer. All in all, a fantastic cinematographic treat. This will do for 3D what Toy Story did for CGI/computer animation. :D

Also, recently seen, 'Daybreakers', a great premise, but left me feeling slightly underwhelmed by the film that it could have been. Dafoe is excellent in this. 'Sherlock Holmes', was good, if a little too long. Both worth a watch. :)

Went to Avatar on Sunday night to get over traumatic Saturday.

Expensive 3D IMAX seats but worth every penny.

Suki, I think I get what you mean about the title/context - but didn't read this until after I'd seen it, and after the events of the last 24 hours my memory of the last few minutes is already fading!

For anyone who hasn't seen it - I recommend it

Enjoyed a great Sherlock Holmes ... great storyline and anyone who knows London will appreciate the work they did on the big action scenes to make the landscape look authentic.

Great movie and the cinema (a smaller one in multiplex ) was packed for the show last night even though the movie has been out for over a month !

I would thoroughly recommend it.

Went to see Avatar last night. Haven't seen anything in 3D before so I was blown away by its effects. Also loved the cinematography as well. And is it me or was Neytiri well hot?

I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the film especially in terms of the Na'vi's affinity with nature and their environment. Wouldn't I just love to live like that? And for that reason I could watch the first half of the film twice in a row and completely avoid the second half which just degenerates into a typical hollywood, I'll blow you away with my guns, banal, seen it all before, type of film.

Many references and similarities to indiginous peoples on earth who have been displaced or their homes destroyed or their way of life affected by greed for natural resources, i.e. tropical rainforest tribes in Indonesia and the Amazon, oil in Iraq, Nigeria, etc.
I won't be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered........My life is my own.

Been to see Avatar with my friend 'H' and my daughter.

I agree with what others here have said about the 3D graphics - brilliant!

But the plot is totally unrealistic. I mean the ordinary people can never hope to win against vested commercial interests.

Any pharmacist could tell you that!

Orange Wednesday .. Pizza and Movie 2 4 1 !! You probably don't want the details of which Pizzas (maybe you do ! ) we had but the movies was Inception .. the delving into the subconscious mind.

Fantastic theme (in some ways a similar theme to Avatar) .. the dreamworld and the reality .. and layers of consciousness superficially as dreams within dreams .. a subtle movie and and easy 2.5 hours spent ... BUT you need to stay awake .. not a movie where you can have a nod during and still stay up with the plot .. so have the pizza after BUT not before the movie :-)

Watched 'Bangkok Hilton' on video over weekend. Should be shown in all girls schools as a warning. Remember press reports of girls offered 'free holiday'.

Inception was fantastic, although throughout i had to keep talking to myself reiterating what had just happened and where they were exactly. I did get kind of lost in it all and had a friend explaining the theory and possibilities way into the night (i did not have work the next day, so I humoured him).

also, a friend of mine stipulated that i MUST stay until the end of the credits..I did ;)
